Project #5: Crowdsourcing

    I created the website as a food advertising because an increasing number of people have discovered that time is very important. People want quick and convenient meals. They do not want to spend a lot of time to preparing meals. Many people determine to eat food from website in order save time. For example, students do not have regular time to cook. Therefore, eating food from website can solved this problem. Furthermore, the website is convenient to give students some suggestion.The food looks delicious and attracts people to eat it from the advertising. Afterward, people will judge the quality of the food by the food advertising.

I used the dear photograph website to create my picture.

Dear photography,
I studied in Intensive English Language Center in the year before last year. I cherish this fantastic experience not only because I have got chance to know some of the international students, but more importantly, the cross culture experience is interesting and it has actually helped me gain a better understanding about our own culture in reflection to foreign culture. I guess this is the major advantage for foreign student.

I searched a picture, wrote my story, and submitted it.

Here is the story:
    The picture reminds me of one person who is the most significant in my life is my grandmother. I had an experience with my grandmother before I came to America. I think my grandmother has the biggest influence on me. She is over 70 years old, but looks smart. She used to be a professor working for universities, but now she is retired at home. It is very easy for her students to recognize her because she wears a pair of glasses, which makes her look very professional and knowledgeable. She has a pleasant face, and always gives the impression of being someone who is very nice and friendly. When you have problems, she is the person you should turn to for she is intelligent and ready to help. My grandmother is the happiest person I admire the most. she taught me was to have a fighting spirit. She always encouraged me to do my best in accounting, even if I were terrible at it. She taught accounting before she retired in the university where I was studying. I guess for her students she was the best teacher that one can have. She also has influenced me a lot in learning accounting since I graduated. She was stimulated my imagination and interest in accounting. Apart from that, she often encouraged me when I felt bad or did a bad job on an exam. I still remember she told me that as long as I had tried, it did not matter what result I got on the tests. She used to say “It does not matter if you win or not. The important thing is to do your best and keep going.” I guess she was the most popular professor among the students in the accounting department. She is also my hero, too. She taught me more than accounting. She also taught me that fighting spirit does not come from outside. It comes from within. Now the fighting spirit penetrates every corner of my life and be impressive. My grandmother gave me her best kind-hearted. For example, I call her when I am lost driving because she is like a human map. She always knows where to go because she probably has been there for shopping once or twice. When I feel hungry, I just go to my grandmother’s home and she makes me plenty of delicious foods. She prepares vegetable, chicken, dessert and soup for me. Her home is like a grocery store and I do not need to pay all the money. No wonder I love my grandmother. Even now, I still think of her sweet rice cake and it is the best. If I’m ticked off, I just tell my grandmother because no matter what I’m ticked off about, she pretty much always agrees with me. She looks like a best friend who is always there to listen. She gives me a ton of gifts and supports all my decisions. My grandmother’s kind-hearted is a treasure, so I cherish it very much.

Discussion question #4

1.In the article "Crowdsourcing: The art of a crowd", the author states that Crowdsourced art erases the line between artist and audience. The new format need some material for artwork such as idea, behavior, and interaction  from strangers. Why it is said that the idea of crowdsourced work inspire some kind of universal understanding or humanistic quality?

2.In "Participative Systems" from Rethinking Curating, the article explains that participation from Fluxus to New Media. Although new media art is similar with contemporary, there are some differences between new media art and contemporary art. What is the difference between them? How the roles of curators and audiences can be redefined in light of new media art's characteristics?

Project #4: Video Reenactment

 
    I use the character cat in my video same as the original source. Cats are very beautiful and naughty. They often runs here and there, but sometimes they are gentle. They like to wash their face. Animals are human's good fiends, which bring us much happiness.

Discussion question #3: Chapter 2 Video Art

1.Nam June Paik is one of the most innovative artists of the 20th century, which generally is considered to be the first video artist. He noted that each person is endowed with an instinctive force, by this instinct to explore its raw power in order to get this powerful sense of freedom. Do you believe that the excess of the joy and enthusiasm of his video?
